Planning Literacy Around a Text in Years 1 and 2 Webinar

This webinar will investigate what a text based unit looks like in practice in a Key Stage 1 classroom.

Our expert teaching team will share how these units can be used to support children as developing readers and writers including contextualised opportunities for phonics, language and grammar and increasing children’s knowledge of reading in different contexts and writing for different purposes, thereby raising engagement and attainment in reading and writing.

We will also look at how units can work together to provide a rich and comprehensive curriculum that enables progress and attainment throughout Key Stage 1 and into Key Stage 2.

The webinar will focus around the high-quality text The Dark by Lemony Snicket, illustrated by Jon Klassen.

Who should attend?

This webinar has been developed specifically for those who teach in Years 1 and 2. These webinars were originally created  to support practising teachers in schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the great reviews from teachers and popularity of these webinars we have decided to make them a part of our Professional Development programme at CLPE. These webinars look at what effective English teaching looks like and how to build a comprehensive English Curriculum around quality texts.

This webinar is delivered via Zoom. Once a place has been secured, the participant will receive a pre-registration email three days before the training date with details on how to join the session.
