Tony Mitton

Tony Mitton wrote his first book Plum in 1998 and he has since had 14 more publications and won numerous awards for his work. Born in Tripoli, North Africa, he read English Literature at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, and then trained as an English teacher.

His poem 'Wayland' was shortlisted for, and subsequently won, the 2014 CLPE Poetry Award.

Wayland was chosen by the judges for the mastery of the form, its epic nature and the beauty of it as a complete piece of art, poetry and legend.

He died on 22 June 2022.
