An ideal picturebook for exploring perseverance and resilience. 

Young skateboarder Cielo — meaning 'sky', and possibly an allusion to Olympic skateboarder Sky Brown — is struggling with the sport she loves after a tumble leaves her feeling embarrassed and apprehensive. Can she get back on her board, with perhaps a little help from her friends?

Author-illustrator Rachel Katstaller brilliantly captures Cielo’s frustration through physicality and expressions, while some lovely moments of composition show, among other things, the daunting size of the pool, and the exhilaration of a really good jump. With some lovely messaging around failure and trying again, and closing with a glossary of skateboarding terminology.
